Charles Anthony Gray, 87, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, October 9, 2017. He was born January 1, 1930 in Pine Bluff, son of James William and Vergie Mae Pierce Gray. Mr. Gray was reared and received his early education in Watson Chapel. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud firefighter who served 5 years in the Pine Bluff Fire Department before moving to Dallas, Texas. He served 25 years in the Dallas Fire Department, retiring in 1980 as a captain and head of the training division. Mr. Gray was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Gray. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee Pierce Gray, whom he married October 18, 1948; two sons, Gary Gray of Pine Bluff and Paul Gray of Greenwood; brother, Horace Gray of Hot Springs; two sisters, Louise Anderson of Pine Bluff and Juanita McDonald of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Kevin Gray, Steven Gray, Ryan Gray, Jared Gray and Andrew Gray; and great-grandchildren, Lucas Gray, Emma Gray, Nora Gray and Anna Gray. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Ramick Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
