Lora Fern Jennings
Lora Fern Jennings, 82, of North Little Rock passed away October 11, 2017. She was born June 10, 1935, to the late Jesse Allen & Lena Carson Stem, near Lavaca, Arkansas where she was raised and baptized as a young teenager into the First Baptist Church. She was a longtime member of Park Hill Baptist Church where she was renowned for her cooking, particularly her pie making skills. No matter the occasion, friends often requested a pie made by Lora. Whether cooking, sewing, quilting, or crocheting, she always enjoyed creating things for others.
Lora is survived by her husband of 60 years, Billy James Jennings; children: Karen Matson (Frank), Anita Hughes (Steve) and James Jennings (Melissa); grandchildren: Amy Hughes, Lauren Hughes, Andrea Jennings and Kathryn Jennings; sister, Ann Leete (Jack); and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lora was preceded in death by her siblings: Katherine Borum (Duron), Jesse A. Stem Jr. (Jean), Dorothy Guinn (J.C.), Betty Piercy (Thomas) and brother-in-law, Dempsey Crabtree.
Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lewis Roberts Funeral Home, Lavaca, Arkansas with interment to follow in Oak Valley Cemetery.
