Charles Michael Schoolfield

Charles "Chuck" M. Schoolfield died October 12, 2017. He was born in Paragould, Arkansas on February 25, 1971, and was the son of Cheryl (Presley) Schoolfield and the late Charles Murl Schoolfield of Caraway, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Jessie Schoolfield, and by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Rose Presley, as well as an infant sister, Cynthia Schoolfield. Chuck graduated from Riverside High School in 1989 and enlisted in the Army the same year. He served in 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Spearhead Division during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 as an M-1 Armor Crewman. His unit played an integral role in the liberation of Kuwait during that conflict. He received numerous medals and commendations during his service to the Army. Chuck was honorably discharged from the Army in 1992 as an Army Specialist. After the military, Chuck attended the University of Central Arkansas, and then Arkansas State University at Beebe, where he received an Associate Degree in Computer System Technology. Chuck worked for Virco Manufacturing in the 1990's at its Conway, Ark. location while attending school. He then worked as an instructor for ASU Beebe for a time, after which he started his career with Alltel Communications. The division he worked for subsequently became known as Windstream Corporation. Chuck was an avid reader, outdoorsman, and mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends while cooking out. Many good conversations were had by the fire, story-telling. He was a wealth of knowledge and veritable human encyclopedia, expounding on any subject given the chance. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, near and far. Chuck is survived by his wife Roelie Ryerson, and two sons, Geoffrey Hensley of Conway, Ark., and Garrett (Annelies) Hensley of Allen, Texas.He is also survived by his mother, Cheryl (Presley) Schoolfield of Caraway, AR; three brothers: Chris (Briley) Schoolfield; Clint (Kim) Schoolfield; Clayton Schoolfield, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; and three sisters: Chandra Schoolfield of Little Falls, Minn.; Carrie Schoolfield of Leachville, Ark.; and Kaylani (Krey) Jeffers of Caraway, Ark. He leaves behind two brothers-in-law: Billy (Chrissy) Ryerson of Pensacola, Fla.; and Richie (Melissa Cormier) Ryerson of Conway, Ark.; and a sister-in-law, Sandy (John) Nilz of Conway, Ark. Chuck also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18th and funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Ark.
