Joann Dickson Hawley, 86, of McGehee, Ark. passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. Mrs. Hawley was born March 5, 1931 in Selma, Arkansas to the late Vernon and Annie Barrett Dickson. She was a graduate of Tillar High School where she played basketball. Following graduation she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T) before retiring after thirty plus years. Joann was an avid bridge player and earned the Life Masters Award. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Hawley, Jr.; brother, Vernon Ellis Dickson, and sister, Leal Dickson Burns. Survivors include her sons, Clay Dickson (Leslie) Hawley of Huntsville, Ark. and John Douglas (Debbie) Hawley of England, Ark.; daughter, Joyce Ducote of Oceans Springs, Miss.; sister, Billie Fay Boyd of Warren, AR; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a favorite first cousin, Betty Sue Kalishman. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Tillar United Methodist Church in Tillar, Ark. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. following the visitation at the church with Rev.
