Barbara Jean Beene

Barbara Jean Beene of Conway, Ark., and formerly of Little Rock, died on October 16, 2017, at St. Vincent's Infirmary. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., the daughter of the late Thomas Harold Stanfield and the late Louella Meador Baum. Barbara was the wife of the late George Patton Beene, DDS, for 53 years. She is survived by three children: Betsy Beene Fryer (Granville) of Franklin, Tennessee; Charles Patton Beene (Melissa) of McComb, Mississippi; Carol Beene Moore (Jon) of Conway, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Wesley Fryer, Michael Beene, Adam Beene, Angela Beene Gill, Charlotte Moore McCaulley, Tracey Moore and Robert Moore; and two great-grandchildren Audrey Kate Beene and Jack Gatlin Gill. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her family was most important to her. She was an avid bridge player and through her bridge clubs formed close friendships that lasted throughout her life. Barbara was also an active member of the Women's Dental Auxiliary of Little Rock. Her last days were enjoyed living at Southridge Village in Conway where she was happy and brought joy to those around her. Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 21 East 5th Street, Jasper, Tenn., on Friday, October 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Bean-Roulston Cemetery with the Reverend Michael Patton Beene officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Beene to the Bean-Roulston Cemetery Association and mailed to Dr. John C. Raulston, P.O. Box 986, Jasper, Tenn. 37347.
