HAROLD (HARRY) BRECKINRIDGE CARTER JR., died peacefully in Little Rock, Ark., on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the age of 76, after a valiant fight with a prolonged illness. Beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, he was born on Nov. 5, 1940 to Harold Breckinridge Carter Sr. of New Orleans, La., and Laura Lee Gray Carter of Bastrop, La. Growing up he lived in New Orleans and Texarkana, Ark. He graduated from the Lawrenceville School, Vanderbilt University, and Tulane Law School. He made a career practicing law in New Orleans for Montgomery Barnett. He was an active member of the Louisiana Bar Association and member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Joseph (Joe) Atkins, of Lewisville, Ark.; and his first wife, Patricia Lynch Carter of New Orleans, La. He is survived by his wife, Judge Susan Webber Wright Carter of Little Rock, Ark.; his three daughters Elizabeth Ashley Carter, Kimberly Carter Drury, and Catherine (Marcie) Carter Johnson; one step-daughter Robin Wright Cleary; and seven grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Nov. 4, 2017 at 2:30 p.m., at the Forest Park Funeral Home in Shreveport, La. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to the Kappa chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Vanderbilt.
