Neil Stephen Freeman, 65, a lifelong resident of Sheridan, Ark., took his first breath in heaven Friday, Oct. 20, 2017. Steve fought a courageous fight but finally he won the ultimate victory. He was a graduate of Sheridan Schools and employed as a meat cutter at the local Mad Butcher where he was known for specialty cuts and appreciated for friendly customer service. An active member of good standing in the Rattlesnake Hunting Club where he enjoyed the adventures of hunting and along the way fishing. After retirement he enjoyed and developed a spirit for Branson, Mo. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his father, Edward Freeman, infant brother, Andy and his paternal grandparents John and Ola Freeman, maternal grandparents George Coulter Sr., and Letha Coulter Dowell and Narval Dowell. Steve was a kind Christian man friendly to everyone. He greeted people wherever he encountered them. He was loved and respected by Baptist Heart Transplant Team. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was proud to tell the stories with laughter how he and other children carried the building blocks that built the first sanctuary and parsonage of the church. He especially was a staunch Razorback fan. Steve is survived by his mother, Demarise Coulter Freeman, son, Brian S. Freeman, treasured sister and caregiver, Gigi (Jeanette) Munds, (Jim), all of Sheridan. Three brothers, Joe Ed Freeman (Sheila) of Camden, John Melvin Freeman of Clermont, Fla., Dennis Freeman (Cheryl) of Traskwood. Two cherished granddaughters, Stormi and Summer Freeman of Sheridan and special prayer warriors, an aunt and uncle, Margie F. and Eugene Burton, his wife Jaylia, and many other relatives and friends. Steve was foremost a loving son, caring brother, supportive dad and loyal friend. A time of visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Gardens. Funeral service will be held also in the chapel at 1 p.m., with Bro. John Trotter and Bro. Michael Walton. Music provided by Rev. John Trotter and Eloise Wilson.
