Frank "Duane" Steele, 88, of Springdale, passed away on October 24, 2017 in Holiday Island. He was born on July 30, 1929 to Samuel and Pearl (Bolinger) Steele in Wharton, Arkansas. Duane married Donna Harger on May 20, 1951 and they would go on to celebrate 66 wonderful years together.
Duane was a well known barber in Springdale for many years. He loved a good deal, a good meal and a good visit. He was a member of Grace Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville and enjoyed being part of his church family. Duane never met a stranger and always made people feel at ease with his unique sense of humor. During the Korean War, Duane was stationed in Japan. He was proud to have served his country in the Army.
Although Duane was known for his great stories and his ability to make friends, he was most proud of his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Pearl Steele; and a brother, Dwight Steele. Left to cherish Duane's memory are his loving wife, Donna Steele of Springdale; a daughter, Robin Thomas and husband Butch of Fayetteville; a son, Rocky Steele and wife Claudia of Springdale; a sister, Helen Tait of Los Altos, California; a brother, Arthur Steele of Huntsville, a brother, Leon Steele of Benton; grandchildren, Casey Atwood of Fayetteville, Tyler Thomas of West Fork, Austin Steele of Springdale; great-grandchildren, Gunnar Atwood and Hazel Atwood; and many nieces and nephews.
