Carol Phelan Jones

Carol Phelan Jones, 86, of Dumas, passed away October 28, 2017 in Little Rock. Born on February 26, 1931 in Clarendon, Arkansas and was the daughter of the late, Joseph Albert Phelan and Iva Mae Wilson Phelan. Her late husband, Harold L. Jones and one daughter, Jo Carol Jones Gill preceded her in death. Mrs. Jones was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, owner of M.M. Jones and Mother Antiques in Dumas for 15 years, founding member of Dumas Community Theater, Carol was honored as Dumas 1994 Woman of the Year. Carol has participated in many church, Civic, arts and educational organizations. She also served on the board of Directors of the Dumas Area Arts Council and as chairman of the membership and dance committees as well as secretary, board of directors for Friends of the Arkansas Educational Television Network and past regional chairman for the American Cancer Society. Survivors are one son, Scott P. Jones and wife, Sissy of Heber Springs, Arkansas and one daughter, Mae Margaret Hays and husband, Chris of Dumas, Arkansas, six grandchildren, Scott David Jones (Kacey), Lee Jones (Elizabeth), Elizabeth Evans (Casey), Page Gill (Ashley), Wilson Hays, Caroline Pennington (David), and six great-grandchildren, Claire, Eva, Piper, Elijah, Anna Lee and Anderson. Funeral Services Tuesday Morning, October 31, 2017 at Walnut Lake Cemetery with Dr. Tandy Hanson officiating.
