Chris Stavros, 91, of Lenexa, Kansas, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2017 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, Kansas surrounded by his family. The son of Greek immigrants, Chris was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas January 8, 1926. He worked during summer vacation and after school and Saturdays at Buffalo Hatters of Pine Bluff, his father's cleaning and pressing establishment. Chris was a 1943 graduate of Pine Bluff High and was inducted into the United States Marines following high school. He served as an airplane mechanic, stationed at Parris Island, South Carolina during World War II. Chris was honorably discharged and obtained his Bachelor of Science and Education degree in Math and Science from Arkansas State Teachers College. Chris later worked at the Pentagon for the United States Department of Defense designing missiles. Chris was an avid reader, loved history and will be remembered for his polite and dignified presence. He was preceded in death by his father, Gust Stavros, mother Georgia (Parnassa) Stavros, sister, Anna (Stavros) Smith and brother, Pete Stavros. Survivors include his sister, Irene (Stavros) Manuel; nephews, William John Smith and his wife Shannon of McKinney Texas and George Chris Smith of Hermitage, Arkansas; nieces, Georgianna (Manuel) Mullin and spouse James L. "Lenny" Mullin II of Lenexa, Kansas and Maria (Manuel) Baumgart and spouse Brian Baumgart of Shawnee, Kansas and many great-nieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff.
