Harrell Smead Pyle

Harrell Smead Pyle of North Little Rock, passed away on October 28, 2017 at the age of 89. He was born October 23, 1928 in Eldorado, Arkansas. He was raised around east Texas towns, including areas around Wright City and Tyler. He served three years in the United States Air Force, studied electrical engineering at Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, worked many years as an electrical engineer for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corp. in St. Louis, Missouri and for Entergy Operations at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station near Port Gibson, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Eulah Pyle: two sisters, Virginia Houston and Imogene; and brother, Melvin. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita – formerly Juanita Steffens. Somehow he knew that he loved her when they first met - he told her so. She didn't believe him… Later in life, he referred to her as "the jewel of Chester" – she was the most precious thing he had found in her home town of Chester, Illinois. He is also survived by three sons: Steven and wife Linda of Cleveland, Ohio; Mark and wife Judy of Richardson, Texas; and Brian and wife Teresita of Sherwood, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sara, Tracy, and Jennifer, one great-grandson, Xander; brother, Jerry and wife April of Terrell, Texas, brother-in-law, Jack Houston of Larue, Texas; and a host of nieces & nephews. Thank you to the staffs of the following facilities for their compassionate support: Baptist Health Medical Center – North Little Rock, Baptist Health Hospice, Foxridge Senior Living – North Little Rock and Sherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Thank you to our friend Jane Faught for your emotional support & transportation. The family will have a private gathering.
