Betty Jean Lisenby Taylor

Betty Jean Lisenby Taylor, age 83, of Kingsland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. Mrs. Taylor was born May 26, 1934 in Kingsland, Arkansas, to the late Ross and Ophie Williams Lisenby. She attended New Edinburg Public School, where she was an All-district basketball player for three years. Mrs. Taylor was employed with several garment factories in the surrounding areas. She was a union representative for AFLCIO. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.T. Taylor in 2001; two brothers, James and Dwight Lisenby; three sisters, Maxine Ivy, Sarah Rowland and Janelle Ward. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her son, Michael (Leslie) Taylor of Gary, Texas; daughter, Betty Carol (Cecil) Graham of Kingsland; four grandchildren, Micah & Mitchell Taylor of Houston, Texas, Cecilie Lane of Temple, Texas, Samuel Lane of Kingsland; brother, Elton Lisenby of New Edinburg and her special caregiver, Barbara "Cheezie" Harris of Kingsland. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Mt. Elba Missionary Baptist Church in New Edinburg with Brother John Greenwood, Joel Lisenby and Tim Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Kingsland. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.
