Joanne Inez Fischbach

Joanne Inez Fischbach, 86, went to be with the Lord and her husband, Max Edward Fischbach of almost 60 years on July 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bob, Ted and Jim Houghtaling and has two living siblings, Dick Houghtaling and Nola Jean "Toot" Baron. She was the daughter of Harry and Faye Houghtaling. Joanne is survived by her children Max (Kelly), Mike (Diana), Mark (Tamie) and Mitch (Julie) Fischbach along with her daughter, Mary (Doug) Bailey. Joanne is the loving grandmother to Mandy (Jerry) Cushenberry, Lindsey (Drew) Butler, Jayna, Natalie, Megan, Michael "Doc", Mae, Maggie, Todd, Mallory and Molly Fischbach. Also, Mitch and Max Jones. She also has three great-grandchildren Jake, Sarah and Lucas and another due any day. Joanne was born in Fremont, Ohio and graduated high school from Fremont Ross in 1949. She met Max on a blind date and they were married in 1955. She had all five of her children in Fremont and then went on to live in Mansfield, Ohio; Fort Dodge, Iowa and finally retiring and residing in Bella Vista, Arkansas where she enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, running the neighborhood breakfast and volunteering her time at First United Methodist Church. Her faith was forever undoubting along with her love of music and dancing that she has passed down through the generations of her family. Joanne spent most of her younger days working as a bookkeeper for Iowa businessman Allen Loomis, president of the Fort Dodge Creamery Co. and his famous Rosedale Farms and running her kids to football, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and diving. She definitely was their biggest fans spending many hours in the stands cheering them on and continued to do so with her grandchildren with many of the same sports including soccer. Her love for her family and friends was endless and she will be forever missed. A church service will be held on Sept. 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715.
