Margie Nell Dorman Powell

Margie Nell Dorman Powell, 91, of Jacksonville, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born February 6, 1926 in Lamartine, Ark. to the late Joe and Fannie Dorman of Waldo, Arkansas. She worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad during WWII and continued to work there until 1947, she later went on to work for Verizon from 1957 until 1991. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville where she was very active in her Sunday School Class. Mrs. Powell was a volunteer for many years at North Metro Medical Center and Care Link. She always enjoyed reading, working in her yard, crossword puzzles and cooking. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Powell, the father of her children, Bob Powell, her sister, Lois Dudney and her brother, Robert Dorman. She is survived by her children, Richard (Erin) Powell; Ronnie (Christy) Powell; Robin Powell; five grandchildren, Kristina, Courtney, Marcus, Tyler and Cody, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother Wesley Dorman, numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Dr. David O'Dell officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in her memory.
