Ray Frank Miner, 97, of Newton, Mississippi, formerly of Cabot, died Sunday, September 3, 2017. He was born May 21, 1920 in Piedmont, Missouri to the late Frank Lorenzo and Anna Herbert Miner. Shortly after graduating from Piedmont High School, Mr. Miner enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. He later joined the United States Air Force and again served during combat in Korea. During his 23 year career in the military, Mr. Miner earned a number of decorations including the Bronze Star for his service in the South Pacific and Philippines. He also served with the SAC 98th Bomb Group in Korea. In 1982, Mr. Miner retired as the director of AFCOM (Air Force Commissary) Southwest Complex and retired for a third time in 2000 from Knight's Super Food in Cabot. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miner was preceded in death by his wife Missouri L. "Tommie" Miner and his siblings. Mr. Miner is survived by his children, Reverend Dr. James L. Miner (Marilyn) of Surprise, Arizona, Dayne A. Miner (Connie) of Marysville, Washington and Raeana Miner Estes (Joe E. Yawn) of Newton, Mississippi as well as 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 with funeral services beginning at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816.
