Larry Earl Ward, age 65, of Fayetteville, passed away at home on Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born on March 11, 1952, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Earl and Edna Miller Ward. He is preceded in death by his parents. Larry had a passion for the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He served in the United States Army and was honored with many awards including the Southwest Asia Service Medal, an Army Lapel Button and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Hight and husband Isaac of Springdale; three sons, Robert Ward of Fayetteville, David Ward of Springdale, and Clayton Ward of Stillwell, Oklahoma; one sister, Sharon Vaughan and husband Steve of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Erika Ward, Noah Ward, Aidan Hight, Silas Hight, Ashton Ward and Chase Ward; four nieces and nephews including his caretaker, Michelle Sherwin; and seven great nieces and nephews. A poem from Jason Strode to Larry: "When I catch a glimpse of the snow outside a chill I feel runs deep inside. While today together – tomorrow apart. Remember you're always here in my heart, and remember this day when times get hard, you're not alone, you're here in my heart. When you feel the heat and sun beat down, don't hang your head, or even frown, just read these words I wrote for you and God will help you make it through, because remember that you are in His heart too. I love you." A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
