Danny Longing, 62 of Conway, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 8, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father, J.R. Longing Jr., his mother, Mary Louise Hammond Longing, and his grandparents Archie (Mary) Hammond and J.R. Longing Sr. (Ruth Ann). Danny began his entrepreneurial journey when he founded the Carpet Center in 1980. During his storied career in the flooring industry, he helped establish the Arkansas Flooring Connection, a leading statewide buying group. He also served as an officer with the State Home Builders Association and as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club. After his over 30 career in the industry, he passed the reins of the Carpet Center to his son, Monty, nephew, Rusty, and family friend Chris Jacquez while he pursued his second calling of expanding his other business, Longing Properties, with his wife, Melissa. Danny had three real passions in life: his love for Jesus, his family, and the outdoors. He found a way to combine all of these passions when he established Almost Heaven Ranch as a way to bring everybody together for gatherings, spend time hunting and fishing, or to take a moment to embrace God's creation. Throughout his life, Danny always gave of himself without expecting anything in return. He will be remembered for his legacy of selflessness and true love of his fellow man. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Melissa, their two children, Monty (Megan) and Allie (Chip) Shaw, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Aspen Leigh Longing. He is also survived by his two siblings, Linda (Joe) Parks and Wayne (Robin) along with countless cousins and other relatives. Family visitation will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Online guestbook available at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/conway.
