Laura Leigh Ferguson, 46 of Springdale, Ark., went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 12. She was born Oct. 31, 1970 in Ft. Smith, Ark., to Samuel and Jo (Gately) Howell. Laura was a devoted wife to her husband Michael with whom she loved and cared for their three sons. She would do anything for her family and anyone else that needed her. There are several phone messages where she told her friends and family: Jesus first, others second, yourself last. As an organ donor, she continues to give to others. Laura filled each day with love and sunshine for her family. Her beautiful smile would light up a room. She loved the Lord and taught her boys to be strong in God's Word and know that Jesus loves them immeasurably. Laura and her family attended Cross Church of Springdale. She graduated from Arkansas Baptist High School as class valedictorian, graduated from UALR with a Masters in Health Administration. Up until her first son was born, she was a clinic manager at UAMS. She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Ferguson, three sons, Grant of Fayetteville, Ark., Matthew and Sam of the home, her parents, Samuel and Jo Howell of Cabot, Ark., two brothers, Brian and wife Sarah Howell of Springdale, Ark., and Steven Howell of Bryant, Ark. Visitation will be 1 p.m., Monday Sept. 18 at Cross Church in Springdale with the service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Springs Cemetery in Elm Springs, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laura Ferguson Memorial Fund c/o Arvest Bank.
