Annie Josephine Amis Manning, 95, of Sparkman died Wednesday, September 20, 2017. She was born in Sparkman, Ark. on August 6, 1922 to Willie Amis and Mary Launius Amis. In 1942, she married Max Manning of Sparkman, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. She lived in Sparkman until January 2015 when she moved to Little Elm, Texas to live with her daughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Altha Williams, Luevinia Holloway and Frances Wages, and two brothers: James Amis and Bernes Amis. She is survived by a daughter, Amy Manning Presley and husband Tom, of Little Elm, Texas; a son, Eddie Manning, of El Dorado, Ark.; four grandchildren: Sonya Presley of Frisco, Texas; Amber Manning Myers of Smackover, Ark.; Ashley Manning Moore and husband David of Conway, Ark.; Brandon Presley and wife Angela of Frisco, Texas; five great-grandchildren: Avery and Ayden Moore, Lakyn Myers, Luke and Olivia Presley. Mrs. Manning was a member of the Sparkman First Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School Class for many years and sang in the church choir. She was church pianist for years at West Main Baptist Church in Sparkman. Church music was very special to her. She also served as City Clerk and Water Department secretary for 30 years at the Sparkman City Hall. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Sparkman First Baptist Church with Rev. James Guthrie and Rev. David Moore officiating. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery.
