Billy Ray Jones, 85, of Prescott, Arkansas, died September 18, 2017 in Little Rock. Born October 20, 1931 in Hartsell, Alabama, he was the son of Marlow "Doc" and Carrie Derrick Jones. A veteran of Korea and Vietnam wars, he retired at Fort Benning, Georgia after of 21 years of service in the United States Army. A member of the first special forces, he was a Green Beret, a master marksman and master jumper. He was a member of the Prescott Church of Christ and enjoyed golf. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Bobbie Jones; son, Steven Jones; grandson, Jason Jones, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bolton-Jones, of Prescott; two sons, Jimmy Jones, (Deborah) of Little Rock and John R. Jones (Lovely Ann) of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Linda Miller (Rex) of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Louise Jones and LeMay Jones, both of Brownsville, Tenn. and Betty Morris of El Campo, Texas; grandchildren, Chris and Kevin Miller, David Jones, and Allyson Jones; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service 2 p.m. today (Friday) at Prescott Church of Christ. Burial with full Military Honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
