Cliff Caughman

On September 21, 2017, Carl Clifton "Cliff" Caughman Jr. left this world and entered into heaven. He was greeted by his father and mother, Carl Clifton Caughman and Jessie Elms Caughman. He was also welcomed by his two sisters, Patsy Nell (Leo) Saracini and Bettye Sue (Roy) Morris. And, after 15 long years, his dear wife, Bobbie Ruth, welcomed him home. He often talked about longing to be with his "sweet thing" once again. They are all together with Jesus now. Cliff, also known as Bud, Caughman was born in Carthage, Ark., on April 16, 1930. He grew up in Tulip, Ark., during the Great Depression and graduated from Carthage High School in 1947. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, then married the love of his life, Bobbie Ruth Hollan, and started a family. He would later talk about his crazy years of gambling, drunkenness and rebellion, before giving his life to the Lord Jesus Christ on October 13, 1974. Cliff became a successful businessman, well known through the state of Arkansas for his workmanship in the siding industry, and for his honesty and integrity. As his business grew, he increasingly gave to his church and community. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church (where he became a follower of Jesus Christ), Hot Springs Baptist Temple, and Gospel Light Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member in 1992. He also served on the board of the Salvation Army for many years. Cliff leaves the legacy of a loving family. His survivors include his children, Sonya (David) Chittum, Carla Meredith and Bud (Cinda) Caughman. He (affectionately known as Poopaw) is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Monica (Daniel) Brown, Luke (Desiree) Chittum, Lydia (Johann) Vidanage, Jesse Wood, Hollan (Luke) Bishop, Chris (Jessica) Baker, Carl Caughman, Tyler (Autumn) Baker, Nicolas Caughman and Emma Caughman. He also shall be missed by his 15 great grandchildren, Isabella, Hudson, Ezekiel, Tatum, Vincent, Lucas, Bobbie Ruth, Marley, Chet, Wyatt, Brayan, Bryce, Ambrus, Avaleen, Cathy Kay, and his honorary great grandchild, Noah. Cliff is also survived by his sister-in-law, Beverly (John) Brunson, and nieces, Michelle (Cameron) Branch, Kristi (Doug) Pike, and his nephew, David Saracini. Cliff is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family. He loved and cherished all of them. In memory of Cliff, the family requests that donations be made to the Bus Ministry of Gospel Light Baptist Church, 600 Garland Ave., Hot Springs, Ark. 71901. Visitation will be at Gospel Light Baptist Church this Sunday afternoon, September 24, from 3-5 p.m. The celebration of his life is at 5 p.m. with Pastor Eric Capaci officiating. All are welcome to attend. Honorary pall bearers are Allen Kilby, Gary Thomas, Fred Lloyd, Ellis Matlock, Fred Lyles, and the members of his Sunday School Class. They will all miss "Mr. C", as he was affectionately known.
