David Hurlbut Brakebill

David Hurlbut Brakebill, 79, of Parkerfield, Kan., died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. David was born Jan. 29, 1938, in Denver, Colo., to Quintin and Dorothy (Hurlbut) Brakebill. He graduated from North High school in Wichita, Kan., in 1956. David married Mary Virginia "Ginger" Pearce on Sept. 4, 1959 at the Westlink Methodist Church of Wichita. The couple made their home in Wichita before moving to Arkansas City in 1979. David served in the Air National Guard of Kansas and the Reserve of the United States Air Force. He was a past President of the West Wichita Civitan Club, a Royal Arch Mason, and belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He worked at Boeing prior to working for over 30 years with BNSF Railroad as a lineman, and later as an Engineer until his retirement. David loved fishing and boating on Grand Lake. Survivors include a grandson, Jonathan Brakebill of Tulsa, Okla.; a granddaughter, Rebekah Brakebill of Wichita, Kan.; a great-granddaughter, Jaylynn Brakebill of Arkansas City, Kan.; a brother, Quintin W. Brakebill III of Bella Vista, Ark.; a sister, Sylvia Manley of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia "Ginger" Pearce; his son, David Matthew Brakebill; his parents Quintin W. Brakebill, Jr. and Dorothy M. (Hurlbut) Brakebill. A memorial service will be held at Highlands UMC in Bella Vista, on Monday at 6 p.m. Services pending in Arkansas City, Kan. Memorials may be made to Highlands Church, 371 Glasgow Rd., Bella Vista, Ark.
