Kittie was a graduate of Batesville High School and Ouachita Baptist College (now University) and a member of First Baptist Church of Batesville. On June 10, 1956, she married Jesse Dean Cowling, who survives her. Mrs. Cowling worked for 18 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also pursued a serious avocation as a keyboard (organ, piano) instrumentalist for Baptist churches from her age 15 until very recently. In addition to her husband, the deceased is survived by one son, one brother, and a grandchild. The essence of the life of Kittie Davis Cowling can be expressed by a Latin phrase in the spirit of which she made her lifelong Christian ministry contributions through music: Soli Deo gloria, "To God alone the glory." Private interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery of Batesville. A service of memory and celebration of Kittie's life shall occur at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017, in the worship center of First Baptist Church in Batesville to be followed by a fellowship.
