Diane Johns Woolly

DIANE JOHNS WOOLLY, born March 23,1947 in Newport, Ark., and died the 28TH of March, 2018 in Little Rock after a long fight against Colon Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Velma Lee Pace Johns and Archie Rex Johns, and brother Kem Johns. Diane is survived by her husband of 44 years William R. Woolly; two daughters Laura Woolly Gibbs (husband Deymond and grandchildren Ethan, Haven and Vaughn) of Houston, Texas, Melissa Ann Vance (husband Quinn, and grandchildren Barrett and Lane) of Bryant, Ark.; and 3 siblings, Rex Allen Johns and wife Barbara, Lanney Johns and wife Cheryl, Jeannie Cole and husband Michael. Her Grandchildren were her delight. Diane attended public schools in Newport, Ark., received a BS in Education from Harding University, and Masters degrees from both the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and UALR. She taught Family and Consumer science for 37 years, 36 years at the Arkansas School for the Blind. She was an active member of the professional organization for teachers of the blind, making numerous presentations at state and national conferences. She was also a member of the Pulaski County Home Economist Association. Diane was a dedicated and impactful teacher, committed to those she taught and to the enhancement of the lives of the blind. After retirement, she volunteered regularly at the Broken China Project that supported the Women's Shelter of Central Ark., in Conway. Diane was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior, whole, and no longer impaired with disease. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 with memorial service following at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock (501) 661-9111 with Nick Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy, Ark.
