FRED WESLEY SMITH of Little Rock, Ark., was born to Harrison Douglas Smith and Daisy Lee Murphy Smith. He was one of three children born to that union and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He was a loyal member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and an avid volunteer at Booker T. Washington Elementary School. He retired in December 2016 from the Arkansas Department of Human Services – Division of Behavioral Health Services. Fred was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Little Rock, Arkansas. For many years he served as an usher. He was a member of the Diocesan Council for Black Catholics, Diocese of Little Rock. Fred Wesley Smith passed through death into new life on March 26, 2018, at Barrow Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center. His survivors include: cousins, Clemetta Hood (Roosevelt), Lela Donaldson, Delores Coleman, Lera Louise Paxton, Addie Mae McClain, Annie Sue Smith and Levern Cherry (Gaye); loving nieces, cousins and many special friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018, 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1321 South Van Buren Street, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Family visitation: Monday, April 2, 2018, 6-7 pm, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock, Ark., (501) 372-1305.
