William "Bill" Sullivan

William "Bill" Sullivan of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away on April 2, 2018. He was born January 11, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., to Harold and Vyola (Timmerman) Sullivan. Bill retired from Alstom Power after working as a Construction Engineer in numerous states. Bill was an avid golfer, hunter, boxer and pilot. He was offered several college scholarships for his athleticism. Bill was the 1956 Golden Gloves runner up, under the name Honey Boy II. He was a handyman who could fix anything and used his many gifts and tools to help others. Bill enjoyed taking his beloved dog, Webster, to libraries and nursing homes for pet therapy. Bill was a member of the Elks, Hot Springs Lions Club, as well as EAA of Aurora, Ill. As a seasoned pilot, he has given hundreds of children ages 7-18 rides, donated his time and plane so they could experience flight. Bill was a mentor who taught many children how to box, play base/softball and golf. Many of his students went on to win college scholarships. He will be fondly remembered for his laughter and helping hand. Bill was preceded in death by his parents as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He is survived by his wife, Rita Wortman Sullivan; children Debra Azeltine (James), Lori Sullivan; stepdaughters: Donna Wortman, Pamela Duffey (Dennis); grandchildren Alicia, Alan and Andrea Azeltine, Brian and Timothy Duffey, Kristine Erichson (Reid), Tyler and Alexis Wortman; and siblings Patrick Sullivan (Dawn), and James Sullivan (Paulette); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mass is set for Saturday, April 7, 2018, 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 295 Balearic Road, Hot Springs Village, Ark. 71909.
