Donald Elbert Hoodenpyle, age 84, a resident of Fayetteville, Ark., passed from this life on April 4, 2018 in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born June 16, 1933 in Drain, Ore., to Oral E. and Mary (Weeks) Hoodenpyle. He is preceded in death by his parents. Don never met a stranger and all were greeted with a hug. His favorite pastime was woodworking. Don retired from the Fayetteville Public School System after 21 years of employment. He had a strong work ethic and was devoted to his family, church, job and country. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Donald attended Fayetteville First Assembly of God for 15 years and served as deacon for eight years. He was passionate about his relationship with the Lord. He had a strong Christian character. He cherished his family and will always be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Left to cherish Don's memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Leona Mae (Raybould) Hoodenpyle; his children, Naomi Rock, Rachel Collins, Jonathan Hoodenpyle and wife Lesa, and Lois Whisenhunt; his siblings, Catheryn McCoy, Lorraine Brotzman, Loveda Thompson, Wilbur Boatwright, Wayne Boatwright, and Donna Wooden; his grandchildren, Shannon Faulkner, Jay Faulkner, Amanda Boaz (Jason), Charity Ford (John), Sarah Embry (Joe), Gabriel Hoodenpyle, Rebekah Hoodenpyle, Jacob Dunham (Danielle), Chad Dunham, Marcie Dunham, William Whisenhunt, and Henry Whisenhunt; and 7 great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home, Springdale, Ark. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018, at Fayetteville First Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery, Fayetteville, Ark.
