Richard "Dick" Anderson, 89, of Bentonville passed away at home on Tuesday, April 3. Dick was born in Ames, Iowa, on October 26, 1928, to Harold and Laura McBride Anderson. He married Mavis Lundberg on September 6, 1963. He is survived by his wife; one brother, Donald and wife Janice of Ames; two sisters, Mary Jo Winder of Shawnee, Kan., and Linda Reynolds and husband Bill of Hartford, Wis.; six daughters, Mary Faulk and husband Jesse of Burlington, Wis., Linda Anderson of Humboldt, Iowa, Janet Butler and husband Jim of Bode, Iowa, Vicky Hall and husband Bob of Joplin, Mo., Julie Chambless of Bode, Iowa, and Michelle Sbabo and husband Bryan of Fayetteville, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gloria Fink and Marilyn Graham; two granddaughters; one great grandson; three nephews and one niece. Dick served in the Army and the Army Reserve, received a Bachelor's Degree in business, and worked for the US Government in several roles. He and Mavis traveled all over the world in their retirement. In the 1980s, they led Vista Teens, a youth group in Bella Vista. Dick loved babies and children, birdwatching, woodworking, music, and was an avid supporter of the military and veterans. A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday; April 21, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville and interment will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday; June 21, 2018 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
