Thomas Harold 'Tom' Brewster

Thomas Harold 'Tom' Brewster, beloved husband and father, passed away on March 28, 2018. He was born on July 24, 1941 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to Gilbert S. Brewster and Adelaide Berberich. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Brewster, and his sister, Mary Garrison. He was a resident of Penrose, N.C. for two years, and also lived in Rogers, Ark., and Wappingers Falls, N.Y. After high school, Tom served in the US Marines. After service to his country, Tom worked for IBM for 30 years and then was a Captain in the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Tom dedicated his life in service of others. He worked as an EMT, volunteered for many organizations, and served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking and was licensed by the US Coast Guard. Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Layton Brewster; son, Tom ‘TC' Brewster (Kimberly) of Arden, N.C.; son, Jim Brewster (Molly) of Manassas, Va.; daughter, Nancy Smith of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; daughter, Tamara Stuby of Argentina; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2018 at 11am at St. Timothy United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ann Duncan officiating. A visitation will follow the service, along with lunch at the church.
