Varna Lee Canady Poff, 81, of Jamestown passed away April 10, 2018. She was born November 15, 1936, at Jamestown, Ark. to George Edward Canady and Chattie A. Richardson Canady. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Haskell Lee Poff; and a brother, Johnny Edward Canady. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Ackerson (Keith) of Hartford, Arkansas and Grace Auten (Gene) of Jamestown; grandchildren, Rebecca Mason of Batesville, Brian Burleigh of Batesville, Rebecca Auten of Springdale, and Robert Auten (Amy) of Springdale; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Hannah Oakes of Springdale, Nathaniel Mason of Batesville, and Novalee Burleigh of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews and extended family. Varna was Valedictorian at Desha High School in 1952. She worked at the Shoe Factory for five years, then 20 years at White Rogers in Batesville. After moving to South Arkansas, she worked at Rohr Industries as a quality control leader, inspecting airplane parts for 12 years. After retirement, she moved back to the Jamestown community in 2000. Varna has been a member of various Missionary Baptist Churches in the communities in which she lived. Her current membership was at Jamestown Missionary Baptist Church for the last 17 years. Her active membership consisted of participating in all areas of the church including playing the piano, music director, choir member, handbell choir member, Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, Bible school leader. She will be missed by everyone that ever knew her and she touched many lives in her Christian walk. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13 at 2 p.m at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home with Larry Poff officiating. Burial will follow at Kyler Cemetery. Arrangements by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home. Visitation will be April 13 at 1 p.m., just prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Auten, Brian Burleigh, John Sherberth, Kyle Oakes, Chris Cunningham and Michael Canady. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Ford and Shane Sisk.
