Ms. Patricia "Pat" Winter (Cooper), 4082 Hwy. 377, Marshall, Ark., died unexpectedly in her home at the age of 77 over the weekend of April 7, 2018 in Searcy County. Born July 9, 1940 in Memphis Tennessee to Curtis L. and Evelyn Cooper, she grew up in Arkansas. Educated in California, and residing in several States in between, Pat Winter was a published author. Included in her works are novels; Driver, River of Destiny (Woman called Arkansas), The Madoc Saga (Madoc and Madoc's Hundred), and Jaguar King. Pat also published short stories; Inside Mother, Polimander's Man-Thing, and sold the story for the ABC TV movie, "Someone I Touched" starring Cloris Leachman. The history of French Colonial life on the Mississippi streamed through Pat Winter's life, work, and dreams. Surviving Pat are: daughter and son-in-law Kimberly A. Statzer (DeGraw) and Mark Statzer, son and daughter-in-law, Donald C. DeGraw and Emilia D. DeGraw (Diaz Rojas), sister, Barbara E. Cooper, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sara A. Stone (Miranda) and Jason W. Stone, granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Statzer, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Alexis Diaz Rojas and Isabelle Diaz Rojas (Niedermier) who are expecting their firstborn, and grandsons, Israel DeGraw and Nicolas DeGraw, great-granddaughter, Amber R. Stone, and great-grandson, Joshua J. Stone. Memorials are suggested to the Witts Springs Community Bible Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
