Charles Paul Butler

Charles Paul Butler, born in Williamson, West Virginia in 1938, having served his country in the United States Air Force and in various roles in the Fire Fighting and Fire prevention community, passed away at the age of 80 years on Friday, April 20, 2018. Charles retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 22 years of service and began a second career working for the Arkansas Fire Academy in East Camden, Arkansas. Charles became the Director of the Arkansas Fire Academy and retired from that position in 1997. Charles continued to serve the Fire Fighting community through various volunteer roles, support of the Arkansas Fire Academy, and was member of the founding commission for the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Arkansas State Capitol. Charles was an active member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, in Malvern, Arkansas, and was a member of the Bethlehem and Rockport Masonic Lodges. Charles was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, and followed the New York Yankees at every opportunity. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in and around Hot Spring County over his many years in the community. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charley and Artie Marie Butler, and Brother Robert Butler. Survivors are his wife of 53 years Phyllis Butler of Malvern, Arkansas, his son, Paul Butler, daughter-in-law Patti Butler of Russellville, Arkansas, and granddaughter Ellie Butler of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is also survived by his brother Donald Butler and sister-in-law Patty Butler of Huntsville, Alabama, brother Arnold Butler and sister-in-law Gail Butler, of Newport News, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday April 23, from 6PM until 8PM at Regency. Funeral is Tuesday April 24, at 10AM in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Billy Bosley, Rickey Poynor, and Brad Warren officiating. Burial in Damascus Cemetery with Full Military honors by U.S. Air Force and Masonic Rites by Rockport Masonic Lodge #58. Pallbearers are Bud Rybard Bennie Chastain, Rachel Nix, Rodney Hughes, John Harmon, and Jerry McConnell. Honorary pallbearers are members of Damascus Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
