Chester "Gene" E. Bloom

Chester "Gene" E. Bloom, 90, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his home in Conway, Ark. He was born July 15, 1927 in Clearfield, Pa., to the late Alvin Chester and Margaret Jean (Pfifer) Bloom. Gene was also preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Mabel Delores (Riddle) Bloom, his son, John Mark Bloom and his brother, Donald Bloom. Gene served in and played baseball for the United States Navy and later played for a New York Yankee's farm team. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Gene served as an accountant, controller and general manager in his business life and retired as a consultant with Crane Co. He and his wife were avid golfers and enjoyed playing at many courses across the country and in Puerto Rico. They were longtime members of Corry Country Club and Conway Country Club. Gene is survived by his daughter, Deborah Howell (John), sister, Janet Carter (Jim), daughter-in-law, Terry Bloom, grandchildren, Katie Bloom (Nathan), Michael Bloom (Tina), and Jason Howell (Kelly); great-grandchild, Kaden Howell and many good friends. A private celebration of Gene's Life will be held at the Conway Country Club at a later date. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
