Alice Fay Kennedy Jones of Fayetteville, passed away April 21, 2018 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born September 18, 1938 in Glendale, West Virginia to Glenn Powers Kennedy and Mary Alice Kennedy. She is survived by her husband, Bill Frank Jones (would have been married 53 years as of this June); brother, Bill Kennedy and wife, Mary Lee; granddaughter, Jillian who lives with her adopted parents, Ken and Tonja Shackelford in Searcy, Ark.; and a niece, Susan Hart Rogerson, M.D. Alice lived in Vancouver, British Columbia from 1950-1960. She was a graduate of King Edward High School and attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia. Alice received her nursing degree at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a nurse in Manhattan, Kansas while Bill was getting his PhD (doctorate) at Kansas State University. Alice was a nurse at the Fayetteville City Hospital and Washington Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Alice was very active (volunteered) with the American Cancer Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Glenna Kay Kennedy Hart; and a nephew, Jason P. Kennedy. Alice was a 25-year survivor of breast cancer. She never met a stranger; she loved to travel and had been to every continent but the Antarctica; and was a loving and giving person. Alice and Bill lived at Butterfield Trail Village for 5 1/2 years. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Beard's Chapel with a Celebration of Life following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in the Baptist Ford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Women.
