KATHLEEN REBECCA SUMMERS 92, of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018. She was born July 14, 1925 to the late Vinton T. and Rebecca Pollard Glenn in Richmond, Va. Both now deceased. She was preceded in death by her four brothers Thomas, Robert V. "Skeeter", Samuel "Sambo" and Herbert. Kathleen was first married to Everett Ferguson who died early in life from heart complications after just a few years of marriage. Her first child from was a daughter Brenda K. Ferguson Summers Young Russell (Denis). After the passing of her first husband, Kathleen was employed as a Secretary with a Richmond Insurance Company. Here, she met and married William C. Summers of North Little Rock, a WWII Pacific Navy veteran whom at the time was the State Manager for the Insurance Company. They moved to Arkansas after their marriage to make their home where they had two sons, William C. (Billy) Summers, and Timothy D. Summers. She is further survived by eight Grandchildren; David, Rodney, Sherrie, Robert, Andrew, Charlotte, Calvin and Rebecca and numerous Nephews and Nieces; Including, Mike Worrell who will lead her Funeral Service with the opening Prayer, and Lealon Worrell, who perform Music for the service. Kathleen was active in Park Hill Baptist Church for many years from it's early founding as a mission where she taught Sunday School and worked in Vacation Bible School each summer. Additionally, she served several years as the Vice President and then President of the Park Hill School PTA of North Little Rock during the tenure of Principle McDaniel. She was known for her hard work on behalf of the school and organizing successful yearly carnivals to raise funds. After her children were out of grammar school, Kathleen worked with her late husband Bill who had become a Distributor for the West Bend Company. She kept the books and organized trade shows for the products. In her later years she became the assistant director of the Sherwood Senior Center for 15 years from where she retired. She enjoyed taking the "seniors", she was in her 70's, on trips to Branson. After many decades living in Arkansas, her Virginia tidewater drawl never left her. In addition to her many good work and community achievements Kathleen was probably most fondly known to her friends and family for her warm, inviting, friendly, "stop by anytime " and pull up a chair at "Kathleen's Kitchen". Big Breakfast, Pies and Hot home made rolls. Now that's Right-good living. We are comforted that she is now in heaven with the host of angels using her organizing talents in whatever way she can to help keeping things running smoothly. Funeral Service for Kathleen will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, Ark., 72116.
