Lanny Eugene Leder, age 74, of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1943 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Everett Samuel and Lorene Payer Leder. Mr. Leder served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force as a loadmaster on C130's. He served during the Vietnam War. In 1966, Mr. Leder served as a private steward for Vice President Herbert Humphrey Goodwill Tour around the world. On June 4, 1969, he married Thelma Jean Borland in Dumas, Arkansas. He began a second career with the City of Sherwood as the Public Works Director until retiring in 2010. Lanny was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Distinguished Flying Cross Society and the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jean Borland "Jeannie" Leder of Sherwood; daughter, Julie (Travis) Wynegar of Greenbrier; son, Roger D. (Sharla) Leder of Meridian, Mississippi; mother, Lorene Leder of DeWitt, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Taylor and Grace Leder, Lily and Cullen Andrus; sister, Dr. Sandra J. Leder of Lake Charles, Louisiana; former son-in-law, Michael Andrus of Greenbrier. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church in Jacksonville with Reverend Kevin Conger officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ulm, Arkansas with full military honors.
