Rose D. Horton, age 93, of Hot Springs, passed on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018. Nonny Rose wasn't the person who dropped you off at the amusement park; she was with you on every ride. Her journey began when James and Josephine Genardo brought her into the world on Jan. 10, 1925, in Dyer, Indiana. Rose was known for her rosy cheeks, spicy Italian heritage and irresistible charm. After meeting the love of her life in first grade, on Feb. 18, 1950 she married him, Charles Horton who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Rose Horton; one brother, James Genardo; and two sisters, Mary and Nancy. Rose was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, an avid fisher, loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her final years were spent surrounded by family and her many friends at Elmcroft Senior Living in Sherwood. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Genardo of Wisconsin; three children, daughter, Carolyn Choate and husband Dr. Robert of NLR, daughter, Deborah Horton of Pearcy, and son, Dr. Charles and wife Stacy Horton of Berryville; seven grandchildren, Matthew Choate of NLR, Allison and husband Greggory Simpson of Sherwood, Andrea Benson of Virginia Beach, Emily Choate of Chicago, Dr. Julia Horton-Bertrand and husband Jacob, Anna Horton and Charles Horton of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Lizzie Choate, Blakely Simpson and Parker Benson; numerous nieces and nephews including Joanne Stoynoff of Chicago. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel - Hot Springs, her friends and family will honor her incredible ride through life with visitation at 1 p.m, followed by a 2 p.m. service.
