Dr. Donald Harper Barrow Sr. passed away on the morning of Sunday February 4, 2018 at the age of 83. Known to friends and family as Don or Grandaddy, he was born in El Dorado, Ark. on May 22nd, 1934 to his father Rex Austin Barrow and mother Theresa "Tet" Harper Barrow. He was well known to his community as a leader in service organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He worked as a local dentist for more than 50 years. His office was a gallery of local children smiling after their first visit to his office and they remained a memento to many when they returned as adults to retrieve their childhood photo after his retirement. A hunter and fisherman, he traveled around the globe with friends and family enjoying time in the outdoors. He was always quick with a smile, wielded a mean spatula on the grill and always one for a drink with friends followed by an evening of conversation. He will be missed by many. He was predeceased by his wife, Melinda Richardson Barrow and son Donald "Donnie" Harper Barrow Jr. He leaves behind his son, David Austin Barrow and wife Peggy, grandchildren, Rex Austin Barrow III and wife Laura, Lindsey Barrow Perry and husband Andy, David Samuel Barrow, Andrew William Barrow and Sela Barrow Hanna and husband Trey, and great grandchildren Maximus, Jason, Harper and Olivia. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors with Father Charles Chapman officiating. In lieu of flowers the families ask that memorials be sent to St. Mary's Episcopal church of El Dorado. An online guest registry will be available at www.youngsfuneralhome.com.
