Shirley Mae Lunn Welch

Shirley Mae Lunn Welch was born, Shirley Lunn, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., to Ed Lunn and Maude Dupre, Oct. 6, 1926 and passed away in Conway, Ark., Feb. 14, 2018 after a life of faith in Jesus Christ. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Brad Welch and her Step Father L.G. Dupre. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Debbie Welch, four grandchildren, Laura Holder and her husband, Drey and their children Shelby and Lacey, Keri Weatherford and her husband Brady, Molly Hegemann and her husband, Kevin and daughter, Pippa, and Maggie Welch. Shirley attended TSCW College and later received her bachelor and master's degrees from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia. She taught 1st and 2nd grades for some twenty years in Pine Bluff and she raised her family as a single parent. She lived a life of faith before the family and the community, hoping to lead them to their own faith and salvation in Christ, so much so that Keri remembers fondly of her grandmother praying herself to sleep at night. Shirley was a member of Grace UMC, Conway and the Slinkard Sunday School Class. Shirley spent much of her childhood and adolescence with her "Grandma Graham" and sternly directed that she have no funeral or memorial services but that we place her cremated remains at Grandma's grave in Gainesville, Texas.
