Sheila Cannon Hammonds, 69, of North Little Rock and Heber Springs passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was born May 13, 1948 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Lester and Hattie Jo Cannon. She was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and loved Elvis. Sheila excelled in everything including cheerleading captain and home coming Queen of Heber Springs High School. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church and the Junior League. She never missed any of her son's games, and was also a mother to many of their friends in NLRHS class of 1991-1994, who were always welcome in their home. Sheila is survived by her husband of forty eight years, Ken Hammonds; sons, Patrick and Derek Hammonds; sister, Nedra McClure; aunt, Patsy Hayes; uncle, Sonny Hoskins (Rosalie), niece and nephew, Jeremy McClure (Laura) and Courtney Irby (Bryan) and many cousins she was close to. She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandparents, James and Ollie Burney and Isaac James and Bessie Cannon. Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Pulaski County Humane Society or The Family Home of Little Rock. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Ave., North Little Rock.
