Zola Jo Peeples, 85, of Sherwood, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Jo was born in Dierks, Arkansas to Lindell and Bessie Hogg on September 19, 1932. She graduated from Gurdon High School, ran the office at Gurdon Lumber Company, then soon married her high school sweetheart, Paul Peeples. Her work career was then set aside to raise a family of two sons and a daughter. Jo loved the Lord and her family with a fierce love, taught them by example about sacrificial love, and always provided for their needs above her own. She was a rock of inner strength. She maintained a nurturing environment and a safe haven her children called home. Her children arise and call her blessed, for a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. She is honored for all that her hands have done-let her works bring her praise. After raising her children, Jo returned to the workplace for several years as a librarian for Sylvan Hills High School and as a legal assistant at the Friday, Eldridge and Clark Law Firm. Upon her and Paul's retirement, they spent a year in Germany as missionaries. Jo and Paul were faithful and active members of First Baptist Church of Sherwood since 1964. Their later years were spent raising and enjoying their amazing grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jo lost Paul, her high school beau and husband of 63 years, nine months ago. She is survived by her son, Steve Peeples of Cabot; daughter, Lyn Peeples Pruitt and son-in-law, Chip Pruitt of Little Rock; son, Daryl Peeples and daughter-in-law, Terry Griffin Peeples of North Little Rock; grandson, Aaron Peeples and granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Peeples of Little Rock; granddaughter, Jessica Pruitt Koehler and grandson-in-law, David Koehler of Little Rock; grandson, Spencer Pruitt; grandson, Griffin Paul Peeples; great-granddaughter, Morgan Peeples and great-grandson, Carson Peeples. Services will be Friday, February 23 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sherwood, officiated by Senior Pastor Dr. Ricky Lee, with visitation following the service. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park in Sherwood. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home, 10 Remington Dr., Little Rock, Ark. 72204. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501) 224-2200. Jo's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
