Mary Johnston

Mary Johnston, age 84, of the Rowell Community, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Johnston was born July 17, 1933 in Rison, Ark., to the late John and Mae Herrington. She was a retired receptionist for the Jefferson County Courthouse. Mrs. Johnston was a faithful member of Center Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnston; daughter, Shirley Johnston-Burr; brother, Jim Herrington. She is survived by her son, Charles Wendell Johnston of Rowell; brother, James Herrington of Rowell; sister, Myrtle Felts of Lake Village; granddaughter, Amanda Burr Lee of Daytona Beach, Fla., and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Center Missionary Baptist Church in Rowell with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. Interment will follow at Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers are Douglas Smith, Kenneth Stinson, Aaron Felts, Chris Felts, Kenneth Roberts, Pete Reed and Danny Jacks.
