Ruby Maude Zachry

Ruby "Maude" Zachry, 81, of Camden, Ark., died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at her home. She was born July 3, 1936 in Idabel, Okla., and later moved to Lockesburg, Ark. Maude graduated from Lockesburg High School and from Henderson State University with a B. S. E. in English and later with an M.Ed. from Ouachita Baptist University. Maude was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Oneta McDougal, and daughter-in-law Cathie Zachry. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rodney Zachry; sons Jeff Zachry and Greg Zachry (Jenel); daughter Nancy Stokes (Mike); brother Micky McDougal; eight grandchildren that she loved with all her heart: Jennifer Cropper (Steven), Stephanie Rasmussen (Nathan), Alyssa Riley (C.C.), Zach Stokes (Shelby Reed), Hayden Stokes, Tate Stokes, Zeke Ridout (Bitsy), Jeffrey Zachry; great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Saylar and Slayton Cropper; Luke and Charlie Rassmussen; Reese Riley; Sloan Ridout. Maude will long be remembered by many students in her 33 years as an English teacher and librarian in the Fairview School District. She had numerous interests and hobbies including writing, painting, gardening, playing golf with her golfing buddies, and in her earlier years, cheering on her favorite Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack. Visitiation will be Sunday, Jan 7, at Proctor Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rex Horne, Dr. Wade Totty and Bishop Jacovis Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Horeb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church, U of A Cossatot Foundation/Lockesburg Campus or The Events Center at Fairview Park.
