Albert Hamilton Davis, 85, passed away peacefully with family by his side Jan. 7, 2018 in Tulsa, Okla., after a long fight with Alzheimer's. Albert was born at home April 11, 1932, in Lacombe, St. Tammany Parish, La. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Nelwyn Leone, his parents, John Jennings Davis of St. Tammany Parish and Gladys Whitehead of Taylor, Ark., and six siblings. Although having a severe hearing loss from birth, he graduated from Slidell High School and attended Louisiana State University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Albert was a successful mechanical and electrical consulting engineer in Little Rock, Ark., for 38 years where he was particularly proud of his ASHRAE award for the first commercially successful gas fired ice storage human comfort system. After consulting, Albert became a prolific innovator holding two patents outright and contributing to the development of several others. Believing that education is the only asset no one can take away from you, he spent hours with his children and grandchildren performing experiments, reading, and building mechanical/electrical gadgets. Additionally, he loved "Rat Killing", an activity with disadvantaged children, where he would dumpster dive for mechanical and electrical equipment, which the children would dissect and learn their workings. Albert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Albert will be deeply missed by his four children and their families: Albert Hamilton "Kip" Davis, Jr., his wife Maria Ida Rourk and their children Juan Carlos Solorzano, Michelle Francis Davis and Carolyn Ashley Davis; Lisa Newlyn Davis and her children Stefani Emma Lee Priskos, and Andrew Alexander Priskos; Frances Titone "Ti" Davis and her children Acadia Titone Roher, Davis Franklin Roher, his wife Melissa Martin Roher and their son Davis Franklin "Frankie" Roher Jr., and Hannah Frances Roher; Paul Leone Davis, his wife Amy Beth Blankenship and their children, Paul Leone "Lee" Davis, Jr. and his wife Sara Christian Niemann, Bryan Terrell Davis, his wife Shannon Maxine Denney and their children Bryan Terrell "B.T." Davis Jr. and Scarlett Elizabeth Davis. He will also be missed by his sole surviving sister Winnie "B'Dutz" Schilling of River Ridge, La., and his many nieces and nephews. Albert enjoyed playing tennis, playing bridge with Nel and the "Doo-Dads", and had a passion for reading and science. His mind was constantly working; he had a magnificent laugh and captivating blue eyes.  He was loved and will be missed. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock, Ark., on Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Albert will be laid to rest with his wife and family in Mandeville Cemetery, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The graveside service will be Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Albert H. Davis may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through their website www.alz.org.
