George Andrew Loftus Jr.

George Andrew Loftus, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn. died a devout and peaceful death on January 15, 2018 at the age of 82. George was born on November 19, 1935 in Overland Park, Kansas the eldest son of George and Mary Ellen Loftus. He attended Saint Mary High School in Independence, Missouri and graduated in 1952. Following high school, he earned a history degree at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated with honors. George worked in banking and finance for 45 years, retiring in 2000. During retirement he pursued his lifelong interest in the Catholic Church. George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Minnie Lindsey Loftus; one son, George Loftus III of Springdale, Ark.; two daughters Teresa Lehman of Hot Springs, Ark. and Susan (Darren) Moore of Maumelle, Ark.; sister, Elizabeth Loftus Stave of Carmel, Calif.; five grandchildren, Ashley Lehman, Jordan and Andrew Loftus, Libby (Michael) Moody, and Regan Moore and one great-grandchild, Cole Moody. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James E. Loftus; granddaughter, Cortney Lehman Lee and great-granddaughter, Chasity Bullard. A traditional Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2564 Hale Ave., Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. Visitation and Rosary will begin prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
