Robert Richard Pugh (Bob) passed into the arms of God peacefully Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 78. Bob was a dedicated husband and father who lived life with tenacity and optimism. Born in Little Rock in 1939, Bob spent many of his young years in Clarendon, and Des Arc, Arkansas. He enjoyed being around water, whether water skiing or working on the Mississippi River with the family business, the Choctaw Transportation Company. He graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Miss. in 1957 which was the same year he lost his father C.E. Pugh. Being the oldest of his siblings he took on large responsibilities at a young age but did so always with a smile. Many of Bob's young stories were of silly pranks, working on the family business, even of barefoot skiing while holding someone on his shoulders. In 1965, Bob met and married his lifelong soulmate Caroline Brunson. They first met while Bob was on a work trip with his German Shepherd, Heidi, selling library books in Mobile, Alabama. He later finished his bachelor's degree from Delta State University in Business Administration. Bob had a long and successful career in the Insurance business and in 1983 he bought the Roy N. Borden Insurance Agency and was still running the agency full-time. Bob loved helping others. Whether visiting those in need, working at Central Baptist Church's food pantry, delivering meals on wheels, or working at the Camp Aldersgate Fish Fry with his fellow Southwest Little Rock Rotary Club members. Bob loved talking to everyone he met, as that was Bob's gift. He was always happiest reaching out to others and was selfless putting others before himself. Bob is survived by Caroline Brunson Pugh, his wife of 52 years, his son, Byron Pugh, daughter-in-law, Karrie, his grandsons, Blake and Blayne (wife Lauren) of Sherwood, Arkansas and his daughter, Karen Pugh Bartosh, son-in-law, Tim Bartosh, and grandsons, Brendan Robinson and Kameron Thompson of Terrell, Texas. He is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Braylee Pugh and a sister, Sharon Laney and a brother, James Edward Pugh. Visitation will be held on January 19, 2018 at 10 am at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 with services to follow at 11 a.m. Graveside services family only.
