Gerald Dwain Oakley, age 72, of Austin passed away January 18, 2018. He was born to Otha Homer and Ruby Wilma (Kirkland) Oakley on April 13, 1945 in Searcy, Arkansas. Gerald was a loving husband, father, and PaPaw. He was so very proud of his family, especially his three granddaughters that he adored. Gerald was a United States Navy Veteran, retired carpenter, and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley (Stocks) Oakley; son, Brian Oakley and wife Karla; three granddaughters, Brianna, Kenzi, and Kayla Jo; three sisters, Wilma Venable, Betty (Roy) Walker, and Claudia (David) Flow. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elzia Sturch; brothers, Norman Oakley and Vernon "Pete" Oakley. Memorials may be made to Sixteenth Section Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 371, Ward, Arkansas 72176. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, at Sixteenth Section United Methodist Church, Austin, Arkansas with burial in Sixteenth Section Cemetery.
