Joe Hicks Moore, age 72, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Saturday, January 20, 2018, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Joe was born December 21, 1945, in Wright City, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Ruth Moore of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one daughter, Jo Anna McGinnis and son-in-law Timothy McGinnis both of Round Rock, Texas. A son, Jack Allen Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandsons, Timothy Connor McGinnis and Collin Joseph McGinnis both of Round Rock, Texas. He is survived by his brother, Bill Moore and wife Carolyn Moore of Corinth, Texas and a sister-in-law Linda Sue Jacks of Sheridan, Arkansas. Joe is predeceased by his father William Vasco Moore and mother Vernell Moore Lobaugh and a stepfather Haskel Lobaugh all of Ada, Oklahoma. Joe attended Ahlosa, Oklahoma primary schools and graduated from Ada High School in Ada, Oklahoma in 1963. At Ada High School, he excelled at baseball and basketball. He volunteered for the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict, serving for 4 years at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia as a parachute specialist. After his service in the Air Force, Joe married Jackie Ruth Jacks of Warren, Arkansas in 1971. Joe and Jackie celebrated their 46th. wedding anniversary last June. Joe spent his entire career working as machinist at the Red River Army Depot in Hooks, Texas. He specialized in rebuilding engines for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and up-armored Humvees, repairing and replacing engines in tanks and vehicles used in Iraq and Afghanistan. After 34 years of service, Joe realized his lifelong dream of retirement with Jackie fishing and boating on Lake Hamilton. Graveside service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at Union Cemetery in Rye, Ark., by Frazer's Funeral Home.
