William David Gentry

William David Gentry was born in Little Rock on September 9, 1949 to William Norton Gentry and Margaret Whaley Gentry. He passed away January 20, 2018 at the age of 68. He is survived by his sister, Susan Gentry Nimmo of Naples, Florida, three nephews, Oliver Culley of Olympia, Washington, Peter Culley of Zelienople, Pennsylvania, and Timothy Culley of Portland, Oregon, and six great-nieces and nephews. He was a life-long advocate for the rights of disabled persons, as he was afflicted with both deafness and cerebral palsy. He overcame these obstacles by graduating from the Arkansas School for the Deaf and by receiving three college degrees, one from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, and two from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was also an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. He and his parents were also life-long members of First United Methodist Church in Little Rock where he joined the Credo Sunday School Class. Contributions may be made in his honor to First United Methodist Church of Little Rock. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Friday, January 26 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
