Rickey Lee Matthews

Rickey Lee Matthews was born on Monday, May 10, 1948 in Conway, to the late Durwood R. And Una Mae Stewart Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Janie and Brenda Matthews, great-granddaughter, Paizlee Ann Barnum, his grandparents Oscar and Bernice Matthews and Lester and Ava Stewart. He graduated from Pulaski Oak Grove in 1967. He served four years in the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Virco Mfg. after 38 1/2 years, with 37 years as a over the road driver. He was a band parent for the Greenbrier Marching Band from 1986-1992. He enjoyed being outside, fishing, hunting and doing yard work. He loved to be around his family. He was survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy (D.D.) Henderson Matthews of the home, one daughter, Michelle ( Ronney) Barnum of Damascus, two grandsons, Rickey Barnum of the Damascus, Rusty and (Morgan) Barnum of Damascus, two granddaughters, Whitney Barnum of Damascus, and Christina (Chris) (Zeb) Golden of Greenbrier and one great-grandson, Zayden Golden of Greenbrier; two brothers, Royce (Bettianne) Matthews, Doyan (Tricia) Matthews both of North Little Rock, one sister, Linda (Charles) of Little Rock, Ark.; five nephews, Bradley (Carol) Matthews of Benton, Matt (Susan) Speer of Florida, Travis (Kristie) Matthews of North Little Rock, Brandon Speer, and Clint (Heidi) Speer both of Little Rock; two nieces, Emily (Anthony) Johnson and Sarah (Jeff) Ford of Maumelle; 13 great-nieces and nephews Abby, Hannah, Caleb, Lydia, Adah, Jules, Jennings, Jet, Leighton, Hadley, Baylor, Lillian, and Isabel; many aunts, cousins, extended family and friends. A viewing will be held at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Lifesong Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Brother Freddie Mark Wilcox and Brother Travis Matthews officiating. Pallbearers, Mike Keys, Jon Rodgers, Ted O'Neal, Buddy Mabry, Melvin Standridge, Mackie Griffin, Ed Matthews, Rob Bowery. Honorary Pallbearers, All Virco Drivers, Odessa Bixler, Tammie Cannon, Glen Keys, His nieces and nephews and their spouses, Oak Grove Class of 1967. He requested causal dress.
